Great Schism

Today's date is 1054 AD and it was my honor to have Q and A with Pope Leo IX.

Q- What are some of the differences between the West Church and the East Church?

A- We speak Latin, and the Western Church speaks Greek. Here the priest could marry a woman, but in the West they can't have a wife. And finally the west is a Patriarch, while the east is a Papal Supremacy.

Q- What is the Great Schism?

A- In 1054 the Byzantine Patriarch and myself called out each other and each others churches, and after that the Churches split. The Western becoming an Orthodox church, and the Eat becoming a Roman Catholic.

Q- Why is this important?

A- This is really important because it created to separate churches between the West and the East.

Columbus Leaves Spain

Today's date is 1502 AD and i go the chance to have a brief interviewed with Christopher Columbus.

Q- Tell me about yourself first exploration.

A- I am an Italian explorer who sailed west in search of India for trading spices. But instead I made four round trips to the Caribbean and South America in 1492 to 1504.

Q- You said you had four trips, tell me about your first one.

A- I sailed on a ship I captained called Santa Maria, and i looted gold and kidnapped some of the local Indians and then sold them back at home for slavery. But on the way back my ship got wrecked so I had to sail back on the Nina.

Q- How were your other trips?

A- Our second one was much bigger, we sailed 17 ships and created a base at the Hispaniola. My third one we sailed much more south, to places like Venezuela. And I died in my fourth exploration and was buried in the Dominican Republic.

Q- This all seems expensive, Did you pay for all of this?

A- Ha, no it would have been way to expensive, I was granted the three ships for my first trip by King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella.

Charlemagne

Today's date is 813 AD and i got a chance to sit down with Charlemagne.

Q- Are you related to anyone famous?

A- Yes, my grandfather is Charles "The Hammer", this gives me some respect from people who admired my grandfather and some other people were bagging on me.

Q- What were you plans, after being announced King of the Franks?

A-I tried to use religion, science, and education to try to lift Europe out of its Dark Ages and give it some hope. i created a 30 year plan to convert some people like the Saxons to Christianity. Finally i wanted to use my military power to capture and rule thousands of miles of land of all of Europe.

Q- What great happened to you on Christmas Day.

A- I was announced King of Europe. This really made me want to lift Europe out of its Dark Ages. So I began to learn how to read and write and i created lots and lots of schools.

Crusades

I was able to sit down on today's date of 1095 AD with Pope Urban II.

Q- How did this all begin?

A- I just sent a group of knights called the Crusaders to try and take back over the Holy Land of Jerusalem.

Q- How did this work?

A- Well the first one worked well. Knights, barons and nobles willing to fight for what they believed in fought the Muslims to gain control of the holy land. We were only able to hold on for it for less than a hundred years, but that wasn't our last shot at trying to take back the holy land.

Q- Who fought and took Jerusalem from you?

A- A strong emperor names Saladin fought back with his strong Muslim army.

Q- How many more Crusades did you end up sending?

A- I sent a total of four, but none of them were a successful as our first one, it seems like we (Christians) kept on getting weaker and weaker.

Magna Carta

For this I was able to force King John of England to answer some of my questions that i have been dying to ask him.

Q- What were some negatives you had during your time being an Emperor.
A- I lost land in France, i lost a power struggle with the Pope.

Q- How did you sign the Magna Carta?
A- Barons rebelled against my taxes and thought i violations of rights and forced me to sign the Magna Carta in 1215.

Q- What is the Magna Carta?
A- The Magna Carta states the rights of the barons and says that the King must obey the law.

Q- What came out of the Magna Carta?
A- The Parliament came out which gave power to a Legislation Branch. And the Due process of Law.

Q- What is the Due Process of Law
A- It gives the accused legal rights. Which gives the accused the right to remain silent, and a lawyer.

Battle of Tours

Today I was able to pull a couple of Q's out of the tool box to ask Charles "The Hammer" Martel.

Q- What was the importance of The Battle of Tours?

A- Are you a christian, then you can thank me because if my army didn't defeat the Muslims there on October, 10 732 AD, then Islam would have been spread to all of Europe

Q- Can you explain the Battle of Tours?

A- This battle could have gone down as one of the most history changing battles of all time. Before this battle, the Umayyad Caliphate of Muslims have been rapidly moving through out Western Europe converting as much as they could to Muslim. but i wanted to put an end to this madness, so i trained a giant army of citizens and we meet and fought and i saved Christianity.

Q- Why do they call you the Hammer?

A- Cause i put an end to the Islamic spread into Europe. Duh.

Q- What are Franks?

A- We are people of the Germanic federalization who lived in France and south Germany.

William The Conquerer

I finally got to sit down with my friend Bill, here is what i asked him in 1028-1087.

Q- How did you become the Emperor of England?

A- It started off with four main contenders after Edward the Confessor died, but then it got narrowed down to Harold and myself, it ended by the Battle of Hastings where i obviously won, that's how i became to be known by William the Conqueror.

Q- I heard you wrote a book, explain it.

A- My book is called Doomsday. After sending all of my nobles and barons, they came came back with information about the city, like its owners, its value, history. And i basically just brought all of that information back together. Which allowed me to tax them.

Q- So if that has to do with taxes you must have a lot to do with the Executive branch.

A- I guess you could say that by how i was granting fiefs on my land that my army had taken over.

Q- What else did you do while having power in England?

A- I established many castles, built fortresses like the Tower of London, dealt with many rebellions and worked with many of the political issues.
