Great Schism


Today's date is 1054 AD and it was my honor to have Q and A with Pope Leo IX.


Q- What are some of the differences between the West Church and the East Church?

A- We speak Latin, and the Western Church speaks Greek. Here the priest could marry a woman, but in the West they can't have a wife. And finally the west is a Patriarch, while the east is a Papal Supremacy.


Q- What is the Great Schism?

A- In 1054 the Byzantine Patriarch and myself called out each other and each others churches, and after that the Churches split. The Western becoming an Orthodox church, and the Eat becoming a Roman Catholic.


Q- Why is this important?

A- This is really important because it created to separate churches between the West and the East.

Columbus Leaves Spain


Today's date is 1502 AD and i go the chance to have a brief interviewed with Christopher Columbus.


Q- Tell me about yourself first exploration.

A- I am an Italian explorer who sailed west in search of India for trading spices. But instead I made four round trips to the Caribbean and South America in 1492 to 1504.


Q- You said you had four trips, tell me about your first one.

A- I sailed on a ship I captained called Santa Maria, and i looted gold and kidnapped some of the local Indians and then sold them back at home for slavery. But on the way back my ship got wrecked so I had to sail back on the Nina.


Q- How were your other trips?

A- Our second one was much bigger, we sailed 17 ships and created a base at the Hispaniola. My third one we sailed much more south, to places like Venezuela. And I died in my fourth exploration and was buried in the Dominican Republic.


Q- This all seems expensive, Did you pay for all of this?

A- Ha, no it would have been way to expensive, I was granted the three ships for my first trip by King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella.

Charlemagne


Today's date is 813 AD and i got a chance to sit down with Charlemagne.


Q- Are you related to anyone famous?

A- Yes, my grandfather is Charles "The Hammer", this gives me some respect from people who admired my grandfather and some other people were bagging on me.


Q- What were you plans, after being announced King of the Franks?

A-I tried to use religion, science, and education to try to lift Europe out of its Dark Ages and give it some hope. i created a 30 year plan to convert some people like the Saxons to Christianity. Finally i wanted to use my military power to capture and rule thousands of miles of land of all of Europe.


Q- What great happened to you on Christmas Day.

A- I was announced King of Europe. This really made me want to lift Europe out of its Dark Ages. So I began to learn how to read and write and i created lots and lots of schools.

Crusades


I was able to sit down on today's date of 1095 AD with Pope Urban II.


Q- How did this all begin?

A- I just sent a group of knights called the Crusaders to try and take back over the Holy Land of Jerusalem.


Q- How did this work?

A- Well the first one worked well. Knights, barons and nobles willing to fight for what they believed in fought the Muslims to gain control of the holy land. We were only able to hold on for it for less than a hundred years, but that wasn't our last shot at trying to take back the holy land.


Q- Who fought and took Jerusalem from you?

A- A strong emperor names Saladin fought back with his strong Muslim army.


Q- How many more Crusades did you end up sending?

A- I sent a total of four, but none of them were a successful as our first one, it seems like we (Christians) kept on getting weaker and weaker.

Magna Carta


For this I was able to force King John of England to answer some of my questions that i have been dying to ask him.

Q- What were some negatives you had during your time being an Emperor.
A- I lost land in France, i lost a power struggle with the Pope.

Q- How did you sign the Magna Carta?
A- Barons rebelled against my taxes and thought i violations of rights and forced me to sign the Magna Carta in 1215.

Q- What is the Magna Carta?
A- The Magna Carta states the rights of the barons and says that the King must obey the law.

Q- What came out of the Magna Carta?
A- The Parliament came out which gave power to a Legislation Branch. And the Due process of Law.

Q- What is the Due Process of Law
A- It gives the accused legal rights. Which gives the accused the right to remain silent, and a lawyer.

Battle of Tours


Today I was able to pull a couple of Q's out of the tool box to ask Charles "The Hammer" Martel.


Q- What was the importance of The Battle of Tours?

A- Are you a christian, then you can thank me because if my army didn't defeat the Muslims there on October, 10 732 AD, then Islam would have been spread to all of Europe


Q- Can you explain the Battle of Tours?

A- This battle could have gone down as one of the most history changing battles of all time. Before this battle, the Umayyad Caliphate of Muslims have been rapidly moving through out Western Europe converting as much as they could to Muslim. but i wanted to put an end to this madness, so i trained a giant army of citizens and we meet and fought and i saved Christianity.


Q- Why do they call you the Hammer?

A- Cause i put an end to the Islamic spread into Europe. Duh.


Q- What are Franks?

A- We are people of the Germanic federalization who lived in France and south Germany.

William The Conquerer


I finally got to sit down with my friend Bill, here is what i asked him in 1028-1087.


Q- How did you become the Emperor of England?

A- It started off with four main contenders after Edward the Confessor died, but then it got narrowed down to Harold and myself, it ended by the Battle of Hastings where i obviously won, that's how i became to be known by William the Conqueror.


Q- I heard you wrote a book, explain it.

A- My book is called Doomsday. After sending all of my nobles and barons, they came came back with information about the city, like its owners, its value, history. And i basically just brought all of that information back together. Which allowed me to tax them.


Q- So if that has to do with taxes you must have a lot to do with the Executive branch.

A- I guess you could say that by how i was granting fiefs on my land that my army had taken over.


Q- What else did you do while having power in England?

A- I established many castles, built fortresses like the Tower of London, dealt with many rebellions and worked with many of the political issues.


Rome sacked/ falls to Barbarians


Even though i am very scared, i interviewed Alaric while he was chained in a jail cell, surrounded by body guards.


Q- Who are the Visigoths?

A- We are a branch of Goths in Rome, where we have been involved in many wars trying to conquer Rome called the Gothic Wars. I became the king of the Visigoths in 394 AD.


Q- How did you sack Rome?

A- I planned my first two sieges to try and starve Rome out, but they didnt work, but by the time of my thrid siege, i waited until Rome was weak and then i charged in with my army sparing the churches and children.


Q- Why did you sack Rome?

A- Why wouldnt I? Rome was so wealthy in that time, with the money that i could get i could build ships and buy food to stay alive. It also improved my rep, people are scared of me, it made them more scared and me more intimidating.


Q- What was so important for the Sack of Rome?

A- After the sack of Rome, that basically lead to the fall of the Western Roman Empire of Europe.


Q- After you sacked Rome, what did you do?

A- I lead my troops to Campania, a Roman province in Africa, to sack that but a storm came and wrecked my ships.

Constantine the Great


I haven't seen my friend Constantine in a while so i got down and was able to talk with him for a while.


Q- Tell me about your childhood.

A- I was born in 274 AD, in the military city Naissus. When i was born the east side of Europe and the west were split. My father was the head of the west side and when he died, his army named me the new emperor.


Q- What were accomplishments you had while an emperor?

A- I was the first Roman Emperor to support Christianity, and become a christian. I proclaimed the Edict of Milan in 313, and I also created Constantinople.


Q- What is the Edict of Milan?

A- It basically granted religious freedom without the Roman Empire.


Q- You fought many people while staying an emperor, can you name some of them?

A- I defeated Maxentius and Licinius during civil wars. I also fought the Franks, Visigoths, Alamanni, and the Sarmatians.


Q- Whats Constantiople?

A- Its a city that was named after me, which grew up to be one of the wealthiest and well known cities around the world.

Julius Caesar/Fall of the Roman Republic


Me, Shveeny Bokos, the person i am interviewing, Julius Caesar in 137-27 BC

Q- How did you come to power in Rome?
A- After my dad died, i quickly became interested in politics, and military. I also joined the army.

Q- You said you joined the army, what did you do?
A- I lead my army to Gaul, where we lead to take control of more people and more land, we defeated the Gauls, with the help of my horses, and my power raised.

Q- You say Roman Republic, some say empire, is there a difference?
A- A Republic is more democratic, and you can have two leaders, and in an empire there is only one king.

Q- What are some of your great accomplishments?
A- I recreated checks and balances, i appointed Cleopatra Pharaoh of Egypt, took power away from generals, invented the Julian Calendar, and wrote many famous books.

Q- How did you die?
A- I was assassinated by the Senate, I guess they didn't like me. They all wanted a piece of me, i died with 35 wounds.

Alexander the Great


Shveeny Bokos here on in 323 BC, where I am about to interview Alexander the Great.




Q- How did you become the emperor of Greece?

A- After my father, Phillip II was assassinated by a murderer who was offended, in 336 BC. After that i quickly assassinated them, everyone who opposed him, and every who threatened me in not allowing me to sit on my throne.




Q- When you were young, did you get an kind of education?

A- I was tutored by Aristotle, in math, science, philosophy. I guess these came into play by helping with my military experiences and how I didn't loose a battle in my 11 years of fighting.




Q- What were some of your goals, while being the King of Greece?

A- Well my major goals was to unite the East and the West and to take over the Persian Empire, but i was able to introduces advanced Greek politics, economics and military practices throughout the regions that i conquered.




Q-Before your father was killed, he had plans to take over Asian Minor, did you fulfill his goals?

A- I assembled 35,000 pikemen, engineers, calvalry, and infantry men to charge into Asia Minor. The only thing in our way were the Persians sea power. So i quickly took over all of their major ports. But my greatest battle was when i was out numbered 3 to 1 or some say 10 to one and i took down Darius III and his army.




Q- Is the town Alexandira named after you?

A- Yes, i founded the town at the point and they made me their Pharaoh which i was very pleased about.

Axis Age/ Golden Age in Greece


My name is Shveeny Bokos, i lived in the Golden Age of Greece in 495 BC to 429 BC who i had a Q and A with Pericles.

Q- After what event did the Golden Age in Greece start?
A- It started after the Greeks won their war with the Persians around 448 BC, this ended the fear and allowed the Greeks to settle down and focus on art and developing a strong economy.

Q- Explain the Persian War.


A- The Persians tried taxing the city-states, so Darius I sent advisor to all of Greece, but Athensa and Sparta refused and killed the Persian advisors. So Darius took his army to Marathon, 26 miles from Athens. Where the Persians lost the battle. Then a runner ran all the way to Athens to tell the Athenians, and said "nike" which means victory.




Q- What are some things that you realized you needed to have, to have a Golden Age?
A- We needed to unite all of Greece to make one country instead of having many city-states, and create at powerful navy and army in case if the Persians tried to attack again.

Q- What are some things you built in your Golden Age?
A- We built temples, theaters, buildings and everything. We liked art so we focused on it. And we had very strong pieces of literature, and poetry.

Q- How did the Golden Age end?
A- it ended after the Peloponnesian War, a war between Athens and Sparta for more power.
